In teen counseling sessions, our counselors specialize in helping teens build the self-esteem that can combat substance abuse. Our service package, incorportates 2 counsleing session for both parents and teen clients. This community of parents have all been through similar struggles and many have come out the other side with a new sense of strength and love in their own home. Parent involvement and parent education on the subject of substance abuse and mental health is a crucial factor in creating long term recovery for teens. This peer group is where parents can be honest about their home life and seek real feedback from peers without the fear of judgement or social repercussions. What is equally as important is creating an alternative peer group for parents.
Ultimately this leads to positive peer pressure amongst the teens that hold each other accountable to the standard of sobriety. Their job is to A) facilitate thoughtful conversation B) model behaviors that encourage sobriety and C) coordinate thrilling and meaningful activities that appeals to the teenage mind. The main objective of an APG is creating a culture that enthusiastically celebrates sobriety, esteem-able acts, and healthy habits while still honoring the thrill seeking and defiant nature of the teenage animal. This is a delicate balance, but it can be done with a network of enthusiastic, young, and trained staff members that range from counselors to paid staff members who have overcome similar struggles. These program offers a continuum of care for the at-risk teen and a network of resources that further encourage adolescent growth. An alternative peer group is an organization that coordinates entertaining and safe hangouts for adolescents who struggled with substance abuse and dual-diagnosed mental health disorders. The core concept is to counteract the two driving forces of teenage substance abuse: peer pressure and boredom. Through 47 career games, Jeffries is averaging 3.8 PPG, 1.9 RPG, and 0.6 APG with 44/29/85 shooting splits.The Alternative Peer Group Model (APG) is a solution to teenage substance abuse. Jeffries’ NBA experience includes stints at Sacramento (31 games), Houston (13), Memphis (3), and most recently New York, although he never truly got to don Knicks’ threads in an actual NBA game.

Through the full NBAGL season (36 games), Jeffries has averaged 21 PPG, 6 RPG, nearly 3 APG, and 2 SPG. This season, in the G League, Jeffries started 15 games for Westchester in the Showcase Cup, averaging 18 PPG, 6 RPG, and more than 2 APG in 33 MPG. He was named to the 2018-19 All-ACC Third Team along with former NBA player Tacko Fall. In his three years of college play, he appeared in 85 games starting 47 of them. Jeffries played college basketball at Oral Roberts as a freshman before transferring to Tulsa. This signing also means that New York will have 14 players on standard contracts, which still leaves one roster spot open entering the home stretch of the regular season and the playoffs. None of those types of deals can be used to sign a player for more than two years.
Jeffries’ contract will run through the end of next season with the player allocated into either a minimum-salary exception or a room exception. That said, Jeffries has had an impressive G League season playing for the Knicks affiliate in Westchester. The truth is that Jeffries never actually got to play for the Knicks in his 20 days under contract. This move is obviously linked to an NBA rule that demands all franchises to have a minimum of 14 players on standard contracts.
